I loved the book. The main protagonist and her emotions are so real, so true to life. While you start reading this book thinking it is about romantic love; you end up realizing it is really about family.Product details

The Many Loves of Mila Mila in America Book 1 edition by Inna Swinton Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Great style, I am just back from my vacation. I took this book with me and never regretted it.
A true confession, of a young, smart, intelligent, sensitive, romantic woman in today's world.
That was exactly what I was looking for honest , revealing story of just another woman who struggled in today's life to make her own living. I like how extremely frank this book is in many issues that one can barely expose to their therapist. Author's style is what makes this book distinguished among many others on similar topic. Absolutely worth of reading.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel by Inna Swinton. Brilliantly written details, great depiction of New York dating scene - I never dated in NY but I felt like I did, after reading this book ), full of humor and tenderness. I especially liked sincere and heartfelt relationship between Mila and her parents - it left me filled with Love, to the brim, and I felt this way days after finishing the book. I would love to see the audio book - since the main character is an actress, and the story is told from her perspective, it will be a lot of fun to hear 'her voice'!
A most entertaining, unputdownable, chick-lit-case-study - your heart goes out to her, you laugh with her, you cry with her and for her and the lovable Mama. You will make a friend and be proud of Mila in the end. So proud.
A thrilling and hysterical adventure in the Manhattan dating scene made real through the eyes of a young, sexy, quirky Russian-Jewish immigrant woman. The characters come to life through sparkling dialogue informed with a keen sense of what makes people really tick.
The writer's voice is at once comic and sad, reflecting a Russian literary tradition of dark lightness like we find in Chekov.
Mila could be Bridget Jones if she had happened to have had a overbearing Russian Jewish mother to grow up with.
A captivating read, it is decisively not your another American immigrant story – the parents’ ‘old world’ cultural values, the ‘native’ daughter’s attitudes, and the tensions that inevitably ensue. It is at times funny, mostly serious, and undeniably spot-on in its portraits of everything from Manhattan dating scene to Riga’s quaint streets. The story hits all the right notes balancing the dark humour of unsuccessful dating plunge, the mystery of Mila’s descent into depression, and the heartfelt tribute to family love.
A must-read for all Mothers and Daughters!
I just finished reading the book and was utterly amazed. Like we say in Russian, "prochyol na odnom dyhanii" - I read it in one breath, i.e. without putting it down. I was truly awestruck by every single detail of "Mila" - truthfulness, gripping yet realistic presentation, extraordinary use of language, nostalgic and tear-jerking description of the heroine's childhood in Riga, but, most of all,
Mila's ( and of course, in this semi-autobiographical work, the author's) deep, unending, and all-encompassing gratitude to her parents.

Debut novel from a talented new writer vividly depicts a Manhattan dating scene where alcohol is a social lubricant, where labels and nose jobs are an entrance ticket to a synagogue, where eye gazing sessions replace speed dating and where Mila, a freshly divorced Russian- American lawyer is going though a harrowing psychological breakdown. The author does a splendid job of taking the reader on a roller coaster ride with Mila's dating suspects, a ride fueled by sex and a potent cocktail of the latest psychiatric drugs. Reading late into the night, I acutely felt Mila's distress after each inevitable break-up.
Every step of the way, Mila draws conclusions from every word and act around her in painful over the top psychoanalysis. Unexpectedly deep and full of insightful details, this book is an absorbing and smooth read on what women should not do in a dating scene. All this and it made me laugh, too.
I loved the book. The main protagonist and her emotions are so real, so true to life. While you start reading this book thinking it is about romantic love; you end up realizing it is really about family.
